Green tailored deposit
About Westpac Green Tailored Deposit
Westpac’s Green Tailored Deposits are term deposits that have been certified to meet the Climate Bonds Standard, which is an internationally recognised scheme utilised to prioritise investments which genuinely contribute to addressing climate change. The deposit balances are associated with a defined pool of eligible assets and/or projects which meet the Climate Bonds Standard criteria, which are aligned with the Green Bond Principles.
The Climate Bonds Standard determines the eligibility criteria of projects and assets that can be regarded as contributing to the transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy, in line with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. These assets and projects may include loans linked to renewable energy, low carbon transport, low carbon buildings and water infrastructure. The eligible assets are reviewed by an approved verifier (as defined under the Climate Bond Standard) on an annual basis to ensure ongoing conformance with the standard. More information about the Climate Bonds Standard can be found on the Climate Bonds Initiative website.
