The Westpac eSaver account comes with a Westpac Choice everyday account so you can easily transfer money in and out. We'll only open a Choice account if you don't already have one.

 

To open you'll need to be at least 14 years old with an Australian residential address. If you’re under 14, go to a branch with a parent or guardian.

Westpac eSaver

  • A savings account that lets you save with ease with introductory bonus interest, unlimited withdrawals and 24/7 access
  • 4.65% p.a. total introductory interest rate for the first 5 months for new eSaver customers (1.10% p.a. standard variable base rate + 3.55% p.a. introductory fixed rate for 5 monthsº). Reverts to 1.10% p.a. standard variable rate after the first 5 months
  • Additional 0.35% p.a. online bonus rate for the first 5 months*
  • $0 Account-keeping fee

Westpac Choice (if you don't already have one)

  • An everyday account with a Debit Mastercard®¹ to make deposits and withdrawals, payments online or on the Westpac App
  • $5 a month Account-keeping fee. Waived if you're under 30, a fulltime tertiary student, new to Australia (for the first 12 months), or deposit at least $2,000 each month. Fee also waived for Westpac Choice accounts opened online by 30 September 2025 (for the first 12 months)#.

  • To gain full access to your account, you’ll need to be registered for Westpac Protect SMS Code. We’ll send an SMS Code to both applicants before you open your account.

If you or the person you’re applying with is a new Westpac customer, you’ll need to visit a branch together to open your account. Please make sure you both bring:  
 

  • Your tax details. We’ll need your Tax File Number (TFN) and if you’re a foreign tax resident, we’ll also need your tax residency details

  • Suitable ID. You’ll both need to be verified separately.

Things you should know
Debit Mastercard®: Westpac Choice Youth account, the eligible card age is 8. For any other transaction account, the eligible card age is 14. You must have an Australian residential address.
 
Westpac everyday account: To open a Westpac savings account, customers must hold a Westpac everyday account in the same name and be registered for Online and Phone Banking. Fees and charges may apply on the everyday account.

^ If you have not had a Westpac eSaver account before, an introductory fixed rate of 3.55% p.a. applies for the first 5 months, on top of the standard variable rate. After 5 months, the standard variable interest rate, currently 1.10% p.a. will apply. Existing or previous eSaver account holders are not eligible for this offer. Joint accounts are eligible where the primary account holder has not held an eSaver account before.
 
* Only available for new eSaver accounts opened online by sole applicants who have never held an eSaver account before.
