Westpac and St.George rebuild in Lismore with new co-located branch

18 August 2022

Westpac and St.George have announced a new and improved branch for customers in Lismore and the surrounding region, with both brands co-located in the same building, for the first time in the city.

Investment in the new site was $1.3 million, with the new branch located on corner of Brewster and Uralba Streets. The branch is designed to allow servicing of both Westpac and St.George customers under the same roof for a modern banking experience, staffed by the same local teams.

The branch replaces the Westpac and St.George “Bank-in-a-Box” which has been operating in Lismore since March 2022, initially in the centre of the city and then at Southern Cross University.

Westpac Group Chief Customer Engagement Officer, Ross Miller, said the Westpac and St.George teams are deeply committed to helping rebuild the Lismore community following the floods.

“Lismore has faced some significant challenges and I am proud of this investment which is a small step on the journey of rebuilding the city. Westpac and St.George are here to help and here to stay.

“The new branch is going to be a great addition to the community, supporting our customers with their needs through improved access to digital technology, supported by the friendly faces they know and love,” continued Mr Miller.

The new branch will offer an improved customer and banker experience in a fit-for-purpose banking environment, with digital tools to support customers to bank anytime, anywhere.

Diana Diab, State General Manager, Regional NSW and the ACT at Westpac Group praised her team and the community for their response since the floods.

“I want to thank our bankers and the community for their patience while we’ve operated out of the Bank-in-a-Box here in Lismore. It’s been a great stop-gap, but I’m thrilled we now have a place to call home in the city,” said Ms Diab.

“We’ve had a presence in Lismore for many years, and this investment will see that presence continue into the future. This means we can continue to support local households and businesses with their banking needs, as well as create employment opportunities in the community.,” continued Ms Diab.

Westpac Group has been proud to support the Lismore community since the flood events earlier in 2022 including:

  • A $2 million flood fund set up to support small business customers with $3,000 grants in New South Wales and Queensland. 122 grants were provided to Lismore totalling $363,000
  • A $10,000 Community Flood Grant awarded to the Lismore Music Festival Society to ensure the Festival’s ongoing presence in the city
  • $5,000 awarded to the Lismore Rugby Union Club via the St.George Footy Grants program to replace equipment lost during the floods

The new Westpac and St.George co-located branch is scheduled to open in mid-October 2022. Customers will be notified in the coming weeks. The branch will be located at Shop 12 and 13, Lismore Shopping Square, Cnr Brewster and Uralba Streets, Lismore.
