Our refreshed human rights position statement

""

8 May 2023

Today we’ve announced our refreshed:
Human Rights Position Statement and 2026 Action Plan (PDF 976KB) and
Child Safeguarding 2026 Supplement (PDF 484KB).

This is our fourth human rights statement, and the first where we have specifically integrated our position and actions on child safeguarding. Respecting and advancing human rights is critical to us supporting our Purpose: creating better futures together.

Westpac has a long history of social impact and human rights leadership. In 2002 we became a founding member of the UN Global Compact and in 2015, we published our first Human Rights Position Statement and Action Plan. In December 2021, we published our Child Safeguarding Position Statement – a first for an Australian bank.

We continue to make progress against our human rights actions to drive positive outcomes for our people, partners, customers and society. This fourth statement builds on this progress by laying out our commitments and approach to respecting and advancing human rights, while the Action Plan sets out a series of key areas for strategic focus to guide us over the next three years.

The refreshed Human Rights Position Statement and Child Safeguarding Supplement are publicly available on our website.
