Westpac welcomes new Government support for those impacted by NSW lockdown
13 July 2021
Westpac has welcomed new measures announced by the NSW and Federal Government to help support those impacted by the current lockdown in NSW, including in Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Wollongong.
Westpac CEO Peter King said: “The new support measures focus on business and household cash flow and keeping people employed, which is important given the likelihood of current restrictions being extended as the Government seeks to keep Australians safe.
“Early signs point to our customers’ resilience and while it’s a challenging time for many, at this stage we’re seeing only a small number of customers seeking deferrals and extra support. Our priority is to stay close to customers and remind them that we are here to help, and to call us early if they are under pressure financially.”
Mr King said Westpac is supporting our employees by providing time off to get vaccinated.
“We continue to work with the Government on how we can help to distribute the vaccine through a corporate workplace vaccination program, which Westpac will be extending to immediate family members of employees.
“We also have a range of flexibility support options for those employees balancing their work with home schooling their children,” Mr King said.
