What we do for our customers

GTS is a key pillar of Westpac’s Institutional Bank servicing the cash management and working capital needs of Corporate, Institutional and Government clients.

GTS is a critical source of funding for the Institutional Bank balance sheet enabling extension of our key credit products. GTS also manages the payments infrastructure for all of Westpac Group.

Day-to-day, GTS delivers strategic transactional banking solutions to new and existing clients. This includes delivering optimised cash management solutions, raising deposits to fund the WIB balance sheet, and ensuring the Group’s domestic and cross-border payments are executed seamlessly.

Within GTS we have a dedicated payments technology business, Qvalent, that consults directly with clients, and develops specialised solutions to integrate their finance and treasury systems with the banking ecosystem.

The important information

  • Chief Operating Office (COO): A multidisciplinary team that drives execution of the GTS Strategy and supports and enables day to day performance of the business in compliance with Group Risk frameworks.
  • Client Engagement: Supporting our customers via business development, solution consulting, onboarding and implementation, transaction banking relationship management and service and client experience.
  • GTS Product Management: GTS's suite of products and services include liquidity solutions, domestic payments, international payments, commercial cards and digital solutions such as Qvalent.
  • Real-Time Treasury Platforms & Transformation: A new cloud-based core banking platform that will radically simplify our systems, our processes, and the transaction banking client experience.

What our graduates have to say

Being a graduate in GTS has given me great opportunities to create a real impact in the business, while exploring different areas such as product, risk, sales, and finance to find what I enjoy. With my background of having never worked in finance, GTS has supported my learning journey into financial services through structured mentoring, and 1 on 1s to understand the banking world.

 Since rolling off the program...

I have worked in the Liquidity Portfolio team where I use big data and financial analysis to drive funding and revenue growth in WIB’s balance sheet. If you want to have a real-world impact and like working amongst industry trendsetters, I would highly recommend GTS to work at.”

- Chris, 2024 Global Transaction Services Graduate

The GTS graduate program has been a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of transaction banking through various rotations across the business. This included 'Real estate, Energy, Infrastructure and Resources', 'Financial Crime' and 'International Payments'. Participation in these teams allowed me to gain a deep understanding of how GTS works and how the business achieves its primary goal of funding WIB's balance sheet. Insights gained include how we bring in deposits, cross sell our products to clients, how we protect our products from financial crime risks by employing controls, and how we facilitate and innovate international payments for our customers. Before joining the program, I studied a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in finance.

Since rolling off the program...

I have joined the 'Pursuits and Business Development' team that is responsible for the origination of new-to-bank deals with clients. I assist our business development managers in identifying potential targets, researching clients to understand their business and needs, as well assisting with various other tasks. The ongoing support of my manager and colleagues has allowed me to understand how we build new relationships with clients, manage those relationships and cross sell our products.
