What we do for our customers
CIB sits within Westpac’s Institutional Bank and focuses on understanding the needs of our institutional and government clients to support them through their lifecycle, whether that be to provide financing and solutions for growth opportunities, navigating times of change, or simply to support their financial wellbeing and day-to-day needs.
We also aim to collaborate and partner with our clients to help solve global challenges, including respecting human rights and supporting the transition to a climate resilient future by providing renewable energy financing and structuring loans so they are linked to achieving environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) outcomes.
CIB provides industry specific expertise across general corporates, energy, infrastructure, natural resources, financial institutions, health, government and real estate.

What our graduates have to say
"As part of the CIB graduate program, I had the opportunity to rotate through Consumer & Industrials, Syndications and Financial Crime teams - allowing me to learn about the inner workings of the bank and build long lasting relationships across CIB and other areas of WIB.
My background is in the Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology and Japanese Language Studies and while studying my Juris Doctor, I took the chance and applied for the CIB Summer Internship program where I worked with the Energy, Infrastructure and Resources team.
While my background does not seem to be of a traditional banker, as an "Uncommon Mind" the program provided me on the job training and learning sessions to help me not only learn new skills but to hone my existing skillset.
Outside of work I enjoy swimming, reading and travelling across Asia.”
Since rolling off the program…
“I am now an Associate Credit Analyst in the Financial Institutions and Government (FIG) team within CIB where I manage a portfolio of customers that include foreign governments, central banks, funds and other non-bank financial institutions.
My role is to monitor and analyse my customer's financial, management, industry and ESG performance and risks as well as facilitating new transactions that assist customers in achieving their financial goals.
The program, my managers, mentors and colleagues have all supported and encourage me to grow and take every chance to challenge myself even further.”
