Depositing a cheque under $20,000 has never been easier, thanks to mobile cheque deposits. Simply upload a picture of the front and back of your cheque to the Westpac App. The cheque will usually clear and be in your chosen transaction account within three business days.

How to deposit a cheque in just a few taps

In the Westpac App

Before trying these instructions make sure you update to the latest version of the app.  

  1. Search Cheque deposit
  2. Select the Deposit account and Amount
  3. Photograph the front and back of the cheque. Keep within the white box - we’ll take the photo.
  4. Tap Submit

You can inform us how you would prefer to be contacted. If you are deaf and/or find it hard hearing or speaking with people who use a phone, you can reach us through the National Relay Service (NRS). To use the NRS, you can register here: accesshub.gov.au/about-the-nrs

You must have the latest version of the Westpac App and a compatible iOS or Android operating system.

Mobile cheque deposits may be used to submit cheque/ cheques totalling up to $20,000 in any 7-day period – as a personal customer and/or across a business network. You may only submit Australian dollar cheques; you must be the true owner of the account; and you must not allow a cheque to be deposited again after it has been submitted. After you have submitted a cheque please keep it safe for 2 weeks, then destroy it securely.

Uncleared funds will appear in your account on the next business day (or the business day after that if you submit a cheque after 9pm Sydney time, or on a day that is not a business day). Funds will usually become available after a further 3 business days. 

The Westpac App is only available for use by Westpac Australia customers. 

Internet connection is needed to access the Westpac App. Normal mobile data charges apply.
