Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply (we welcome applications from engineers, scientists and mathematicians, as well as those studying commerce and finance-based degrees) but you will need to have an interest in global markets and possess a diverse skillset, including the ability to adapt and be flexible. What our graduates have to say

“I studied Commerce and Law at Macquarie University and, in my spare time, I enjoy going out to eat with my family and playing volleyball and frisbee with my friends.

I may be a Financial Markets & Treasury Grad, but I’m also interested in astronomy!

Westpac Group is well known for celebrating diversity and empowering women – this is something that attracted me to apply to work here.

I applied because I wanted to challenge myself and try something new and exciting.  The fact that I’ll be rotating through several different teams, and will be constantly learning and expanding my skills, is extremely appealing”.

Since rolling off the program…

"I now work as part of the Credit Trading team in Financial Markets. The team trades credit bonds which are issued by large Financial Institutions such as Westpac, the other major banks and corporate bonds.

During my grad year, each rotation was very unique, providing insight into various parts of the bank. For example, my first rotation was in Treasury, which gave me insight into balance sheet management/bank funding. I then rotated through different sales and trading teams, i.e. Corporate and Institutional Sales, Debt Capital Markets and Credit Trading, each with unique products and clients. These rotations helped me grasp common market concepts, whilst helping me decide what I wanted to do post grad program."
