Updating your name, title or gender with the bank
We will need to identify you to authorise any changes to your name, title or gender so please bring the relevant documentation (such as driver’s licence or a card and a PIN) when visiting a branch.
How can I update my legal name?
To update your legal name, please visit a branch in person with certified or original legal documents issued by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages (e.g. a divorce document or marriage certificate). These documents can be in your previous legal name if they haven’t been updated yet. You will also need to bring in a valid form of identification such as passport, driver’s licence or card and a PIN.
If you are unable to attend a branch due to illness, disability or other reasons, you can submit certified copies of your identification and the Name Change form to the branch by fax or post.
How can I update my title or salutation?
To update your title or salutation, please visit a branch in person. No supporting documentation is required unless you are updating to a professional courtesy title such as Admiral or Dr. In these cases, please bring relevant documentation with you (e.g. a driver’s licence that shows the professional courtesy title or a certification).
How do I update my gender identity?
We only capture your gender identity, not your legal sex or gender, so no supporting documentation is required to update your gender identity in our systems. At this time our system only allows for binary gender options (Male/Female). To update your gender identity, visit one of our branches in person. You'll need to provide a card and a PIN or a driver’s licence at the start of your visit to verify your identity so we can make sure you're authorised to make changes to the account.
Due to current system limitations, only binary gender identities (e.g., “male” and “female”) and salutations (e.g., "Mr", "Mrs", "Miss") can be recorded in our systems. We understand that this does not reflect the full spectrum of gender identities and we are working towards enhancing our systems to allow our customers to record their gender identity in a way that is meaningful to them.
